WHAT DO THEY DO?

GLP-1s are injectable medications that mimic a natural hormone to help promote weight loss and manage cravings by slowing digestion and increasing feelings of fullness.  They increase insulin production which reduces your glucagon and help reduce inflammation, lower blood pressure, and cholesterol.

 

HOW DO THEY WORK?

GLP-1 medications mimic a naturally occurring hormone to help regulate blood suGet gar and appetite.

They slow down digestion, which helps you feel fuller for longer and can lead to weight loss.

They signal the brain and gut to regulate hunger and fullness. 

HOW DO I TAKE THEM?

GLP-1s are most commonly administered via a weekly subcutaneous (under the skin) injection. 

They are usually combined with healthy lifestyle changes, such as a balanced diet and regular exercise, for the best results. 

MOST COMMON SIDE EFFECTS?

The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, constipation, and diarrhea, especially when starting. These side effects often improve over time as your body adjusts. 

“Ozempic® Face” (the social media moniker for sagging skin that can accompany rapid weight loss). Losing fat from the face quickly can effect appearance. Some people using GLP-1 drugs report a hollowed, sunken look, especially around the cheeks and eyes, more visible lines and wrinkles, loose skin and thinning lips.
